The first memorial ring
Mount Maunganui Beach
When my wife lost her mother, she was heartbroken. In her most difficult moments, she and her sister found solace at Mount Maunganui Beach, a place filled with memories of summers spent in love, laughter, and shared precious moments. Over time, the sisters decided to scatter their mum’s ashes at the beach. This special place became a refuge where they could visit at sunrise, sunset, and whenever the tide rolled in and out, feeling her presence in the rhythm of the waves.
I wanted to give my wife and her sister a meaningful gift – something that would forever remind them of their bond with their mum. That’s when inspiration struck. What if I created a keepsake using sand from the beach they cherished? It would be a way to hold on to those memories in a tangible, timeless way.
I gathered some sand from Mount Beach and crafted my very first memorial ring. Both my wife and her sister were deeply moved. They now wear their rings every day, feeling as though they carry a part of their mum with them wherever they go. Creating those rings with love and compassion for their loss was an experience that stayed with me.
The significance of those rings inspired a larger vision. My wife and I realized that this idea of creating keepsakes could be expanded to help others cherish their loved ones and memories. We decided to incorporate pet cremains into our keepsakes, as we knew how deeply people bond with their pets.
When our son, Zac, decided to move to Melbourne, we wanted him to carry a piece of home and our love with him. Around the same time, we had lost our beloved Golden Retriever, Kane.
Like many others, we had Kane cremated but weren’t ready to scatter his ashes. He had been such a big part of our lives, and we wanted to keep his memory close. With this in mind, I designed a ring for Zac, incorporating Kane’s ashes. We also included some fur from our Border Collie, Neo, who Zac had developed a strong bond with.
Zac was overjoyed, and knowing he carried the love and memories of his furry companions gave us all a sense of comfort as he started his new journey.
Seeing how much solace and joy these keepsakes brought, we felt a sense of purpose. We wanted to help others create eternal connections to their cherished loved ones, whether human or animal. This heartfelt mission led to the birth of Treasured Fureva.
I began experimenting with different ring designs and techniques, honing my craft to ensure each piece would be as unique as the memories it represented. Every item is handcrafted with the utmost care and respect, transforming cherished memories into timeless keepsakes.
